New Ventures Spring Up On Mountain posted on 04/01/2012
According to Brenda Taylor, owner and operator of Zig Zag Zen, “Everyone on the mountain loves yoga; they just don’t know it yet!”

Officially opening up in the Hoodland Shopping Center April 14, the new yoga studio will offer a wide variety of classes for all skill levels and ages.  There will be free classes offered on opening day to boost local interest.

Zig Zag Zen will be open seven days a week with a diverse schedule of classes and membership options which can be viewed on its website at www.mthoodzen.com.

And Taylor is excited by the response she is already getting: “We’ve had a great number of people come in; it’s really been a good turnout so far.”

On the mountain now for one year, Taylor has her PhD in chiropractic medicine, specializing in sports and posture. She has been teaching dance and yoga more than 15 years.

“We will offer lots of types of classes,” Taylor said, “All the way from the hot, power flow classes to the lower energy classes.”

There will also be kids yoga classes available as well as cardio kickboxing.

Taylor stresses that yoga can be for anyone, offering anytime drop-in rates for any class. The studio will also accept many forms of health insurance. Call 971-678-2227.

Hoodland Sport
and Fitness
Want to get in shape? Hoodland Sport and Fitness projects to open on May 1 in the Hoodland Shopping Center.

Owner and operator Seth Tinker will have the facility available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. But he says the thing that really makes his gym is special is that it is a place where you can make your own fitness experience.

“There will be general fitness equipment available, as well as equipment for any ‘CrossFit style’ workout, including battle ropes and kettle bells,” he said.

Tinker has a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sports fitness from Oregon State University and is the ex-fitness director of the Mt. Hood Athletic Club.

He has been working the last two years operating Hoodland Sport and Fitness, organizing sports and athlete training camps.

The gym will be accepting new members starting April 2.
