View from the mountain From the publisher’s desk

While December is certainly a time for celebrating and gathering, it is also a period of reflection, a look back on all that has transpired over the last 12 months.
This year has been an exceptionally busy one for me and my staff. In all of my 23 years of owning my publishing company, Active Media, I had never taken on the task of producing a community newspaper. To say it has been a humbling learning experience is an understatement, and yet, it has been extremely rewarding.
Meeting so many new people on the mountain and getting to know so many hard-working business owners has been absolutely wonderful, not to mention dining at some fantastic restaurants in the area. I must say, this community is definitely spoiled with really great food and service.
I’d like to thank my staff for their hard work, helping to put this paper out each month. I’d also like to thank all of our advertisers who help make this paper possible. Without your support, The Mountain Times would cease to exist.
Last but not least, I’d like to thank you, the readers, for helping make The Mountain Times the most-read paper on the mountain. The fact that in 2023 — smack dab in the middle of the digital revolution — this little old-fashioned newspaper just keeps going and going and going. Its continued success is a testament to the community passion that folks up here all share. The warm welcome you have given this newcomer has truly shown real mountain hospitality.
From all of the staff here at The Mountain Times, we would like to wish you a safe and fun holiday season. We are excited about what 2024 can bring.
Thank you for supporting The Mountain Times.

Sincerely,
Matt
