Answers to Common Questions About Orchid Health Hoodland Clinic
By Orchid Health Clinic, for The Mountain Times
Orchid Health is proud to have been a part of the Hoodland community for 2 years this month! As we continue to get to know our neighbors, we often receive questions about who we are, what we do, and how we can be there for you and your family.
To help you get the most out of your local clinic and to save you a drive along Highway 26, we’ve put together answers to our most frequently asked questions.
FAQ: Everything You Need to Know About Orchid Health Hoodland Clinic
1. Do you accept the Oregon Health Plan (OHP)?
We accept most Oregon Health Plan (OHP). This includes Trillium, CareOregon, Kaiser OHP plans, along with Medicare, Medicaid, and many more. We believe financial barriers shouldn’t stand between you and great care. If you are uninsured or underinsured, we also offer a Sliding Fee Discount Program based on family size and income, as well as affordable cash-pay options.
2. I have Kaiser insurance — can I be seen at your clinic?
Yes! We accept most major insurances, including Kaiser, Moda, Bluecross Blueshield, Aetna, Cigna, and many more. You can establish care or receive primary care services right here at our Hoodland Clinic without having to drive into Portland.
3. Are you accepting new patients, and how far out is your next appointment?
Yes, we are actively accepting new patients!
For new patients looking to establish care with a primary care provider, the average appointment is usually scheduled within three weeks to ensure we have plenty of time for our comprehensive 60-minute initial visits. For urgent or sudden medical issues, we hold room for same-day or next-day acute care appointments. Call us at (971) 333-0494 to schedule!
4. Do you see infants and children?
Yes! We care for patients of every age, from newborns to seniors.
Our pediatric services include newborn wellness checks, routine developmental check-ups, childhood immunizations, sports physicals, and acute pediatric care. Having care close to home is especially important for growing families in our mountain towns!
5. If I already have a Primary Care Provider (PCP), can I come to the clinic just for a same-day appointment?
For adults, our same-day appointment for acute care services, such as strain, sprain, minor cuts, scrapes, and burns, tick or bug bites, minor back or joint pain, coughs, sore throat, and rashes, are reserved for established patients only.
However, we do offer acute care visits for non-established Oregon Trail School District (OTSD) students to ensure local kids can get prompt attention without missing unnecessary class or travel time.
6. Can I get labs drawn at the clinic?
Yes. We offer convenient in-house diagnostic testing and lab draws right at the clinic. We can perform rapid point-of-care tests for conditions like strep throat, flu, pregnancy, and blood glucose, as well as routine blood draws with overnight results sent out for most other lab work.
7. If I become a patient, do my medical records transfer over? Will I still have access to specialists at Legacy, Providence, Adventist, OHSU, etc.?
Absolutely. Joining Orchid Health does not restrict your access to regional specialists.
- Record Transfer: Our administrative team makes transferring your existing medical records simple — we’ll handle the request forms with your previous clinic.
- Specialist Access: We regularly collaborate with regional healthcare networks including Legacy Health, Providence, Adventist, and OHSU. If you need specialized treatment, imaging, or hospital-based care, our providers will coordinate referrals directly with your preferred specialists.
8. Do you use MyChart?
While we do not use MyChart specifically, we utilize a secure, user-friendly Patient Portal accessible from any computer or smartphone. Through the Orchid Health Patient Portal, you can:
- Directly message your care team
- View lab, diagnostic, and imaging results as soon as they are available
- Request prescription refills easily
