Good Times, Thanks, and Upcoming Events
By Laura Peterson, For The Mountain Times
We had a fine send-off to summer at our 2nd Annual Potluck Picnic! It was a perfect sunny day at Wildwood Park, as we gathered for great food and fun. Also, a very valuable lesson was learned by yours truly: Make sure the burgers and hot dogs arrive in the first car!
We send thanks to Director Emeritus Carianne Stearns for the loan of her grill, and for the last-minute mission to grab Leita and rescue the aforementioned burgers and dogs back at the Center. Saved the day yet again :)
Thanks to Maria Burke from the Burke Cabin for loaning us her cornhole game for the day – good times! Check out her website if you know anyone who needs a gorgeous cabin rental in a sweet location – burkecabinmthood.com. And thanks to the wonderful hosts and staff at Wildwood Park. Manager Mark and the whole crew are gracious, fun, and so helpful. Noreen, thanks for hauling the heavy coolers in your intrepid Cushman. What a treasure we have here; the park AND its people!
Our Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser was a lot of fun, and we look forward to doing more of these, with expanded hours and a bit of streamlining. We have many to thank for their support – Kelley and the team at Mt. Hood Deli & Sweets (971-419-1932) for sharing their kitchen, supplies, and energy. Mountain Building Supply (503-622-3000) created a beautiful herb garden and fun bird goodies for our raffle. Also for our raffle, the Mt Hood Oregon Resort (503-622-3101) donated several golf rounds. Extra thanks to Chef Tim at the Rendezvous Grill (503-622-6837) - when we had a donation cancellation, he swooped in and added to his originally promised items, so we had all the ingredients we needed. Amazing!
A huge thanks to Ant Farm (503-668-9955) for whacking and removing the voluminous weeds around the Center! Besides the safety factor, it looks so much better now.

MOVIES, GAME TIME & JAM SESSION
Seasonal changes mean it’s time for Movie Day again! Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m., come on in and bring a movie or select something from our library. We’ll pop up some popcorn and get the tea kettle going.
We’ve had some folks express interest in coming to the Center to play card games. What a good idea! Please let us know if you’re interested, and if we’ve got enough players ready to rumble, we’ll set up a time for y’all.
Our monthly Acoustic Jam Sessions are so popular we’re adding a second jam each month – bring your instrument and/or voice for a fun time with kindred musical spirits. Every first and third Wednesday, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
