I think it’s fair to say the consensus of folks who live here is generally gratitude – not just for the beauty of our area, but for the kindness and neighborly energy of the residents.
Let’s send out a heartfelt thanks to all the firefighters and myriad behind-the-scenes support personnel for the work they do before, during, and after these events. Fire season is now a normal part of summer, and our safety is in no small part a result of these folks and their work.
Here at HSC, we are always eager to thank our volunteers. Many of them decline any public attention, but our Web Administrator isn’t one of them.
I’m delighted to send a huge thanks to Ms. Eva Stearns! Eva is working on updating our website, including making the donation page easy to use and flexible for donors. She fits her work here into a very busy and fun life. An avid outdoorswoman, she keeps in shape for her school’s basketball and track & field teams by kayaking, paddle boarding, and running.
We all need indoor activities for much of the year around here. In addition to the practice needed for this multi-instrumentalist, Eva deftly maintains a straight-A average while pursuing other hobbies like coding, cooking, and creative writing. Luckily for us, she also really loves volunteering for us here at the Senior Center! Many thanks to you Eva, it’s lovely to have you around, and your talent is very much appreciated by all of us, and especially me, a decidedly NON-digital native 😊
We also owe a hearty thanks to Tekla and the staff at the Whistle Stop. They’ve served delicious congregate lunches to our groups two times a month for a couple of years now. A good time is always to be had at the Whistle Stop. All the staff are top-notch! The kitchen crew concocts wonderful, homemade meals, and the servers and bartenders are always fun and friendly. Thanks to all for accommodating us so warmly.
WEATHERIZATION HELP AND INFORMATION
The Clackamas County Weatherization Services team will be here Wednesday, September 30 at 1:00 for an hour-long presentation. Besides tips and information on ways to help keep our homes cooler in summer and warmer in winter, they will bring us up to speed on services to help income-qualified households, as well as loans and grants available for certain repairs and upgrades.They will be bringing some box fans and hand-held misting fans for us as well!
THE BOOKMOBILE IS HERE!
We look forward to having the Mobile Library back this month: come by and avail yourself of all the library services – books and movies of all kinds, and even tech services. Monday, September 21, 11:00 – 1:00.
MORE JAMMING COMING YOUR WAY
We’re happy to announce that beginning in October, we’ll be adding a second monthly acoustic jam session here at the Center. Every 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month, 5:00 – 7:00, come on by with your instrument and/or voice, and let the good times roll.
