Medical Clinic Partners With School District for Student Healthcare

Dear Orchid:

Q: I have recently heard that your medical clinic has officialized a formal healthcare agreement with the Oregon Trail School District. As a local parent, I am wondering if any school-aged child can truly be seen for same-day appointments or urgent care needs, even if they are not currently established patients?

A: Through our partnership with the Oregon Trail School District, we are happy to provide same-day and acute appointments for any school-aged child in the Welches and Sandy community, even if they are not already established as a primary care patient.

While we are not an urgent care clinic, our acute same-day appointments are designed for unexpected illnesses and injuries that need prompt attention but may not require a trip to the emergency department. Common reasons for same-day appointments include colds, sore throats, ear infections, fevers, rashes, sprains, minor fractures, cuts that may need stitches, burns, allergic reactions, and other sudden concerns.

Living in rural Oregon means our kids and families stay active year-round. Whether it’s a skiing or snowboarding fall at Mt. Hood, a mountain biking crash at Sandy Ridge, a camping mishap, a fishing hook injury, a playground accident, or a sports-related injury, our team is here to evaluate and treat many acute concerns close to home.

Orchid Health is a full-service family medicine clinic, providing comprehensive family medicine from newborn to age 110, including prenatal care. While we don't deliver, we do offer supervision for pregnancies up to 32 weeks and have collaborative practice agreements with all delivery hospitals from Portland to Silverton. Anyone looking for ongoing care in Welches is welcome to establish with either of our providers, who are both currently accepting new patients. Our goal is to make high-quality, convenient healthcare accessible for our entire community, whether you need a same-day visit for an unexpected illness or injury, or a trusted primary care provider for long-term care.
