To the Editor:

I would like to thank Dr. David Wenzel for his beautiful piece in the August 2026 issue of the Mountain Times.

Living here for a long time has also informed my evolving attitude about time, community, and resilience -- although I wouldn't have put it as eloquently as Dr. Wenzel has.  

Watching our community grow and change has been jarring at times, but seeing so many people doing the good work of thoughtful stewardship and restoration is inspiring and hopeful.  Also, the ongoing work of increasing community connectivity and access to information is reassuring (for the forest and us humans), whether in times of emergency or celebration.  

The forest and its inhabitants have much to teach us all, if we take time to slow down, listen, and learn.
