A Great Start to the Year!
September was a busy and exciting month at Welches Schools, as we kicked off a new school year! We started the festivities with our Ice Cream Social and Open House, giving families a chance to reconnect, meet teachers, and get ready for the year ahead. A big thank you to Rhododendron Dairy Queen for helping provide Dilly Bars for everyone to enjoy. The first day of school soon had everyone back into the swing of things, and was followed shortly after by School Picture Day, giving students a chance to get their annual school photos taken.
One of the biggest highlights of September was our Rainbow Run. It was so much fun seeing every class proudly decked out in their class colors and running with such enthusiasm to help raise funds for Welches Schools. The middle school even put their own spin on the event with a powder run, where students were covered in colorful powder as they made their way through the course. The energy and school spirit were incredible!
The Rainbow Run is more than just a fun day filled with school spirit; it helps fund things that make a real difference for our students and staff throughout the year. Funds raised have helped provide art and music equipment for students and staff to enjoy, updated classroom technology with new Smart Boards, and important school improvements like new water stations and middle school gym mats. The Rainbow Run funds have also helped bring The Right Brain Initiative to our school, giving students the opportunity to participate in fun, creative arts projects. Every lap, every donation, and every bit of support helps make these opportunities possible for our school community. Can’t wait to share our final total and fundraising plans with you soon — stay tuned!
Looking Ahead to October
October is shaping up to be another fun-filled month, with one of our favorite events just around the corner. On Friday, October 30th, students will celebrate our annual Harvest Festival, a fun-filled fall carnival held during the school day. Students can wear their costumes and enjoy games, crafts, and seasonal activities with their classmates. We’re looking for parents, guardians, and community volunteers to help make the day special. Volunteers must complete an application/background check before the event. Background checks take time, so please apply early! Visit https://ws.oregontrailschools.com/ Questions? Reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@welchesptco.org.
