The 21st annual Hoodland Women’s Club “Scramble for Scholarships” golf tournament was a big success, raising over $26,500 for scholarships and community giving. Held June 26 at the Mount Hood Oregon Resort, the event attracted twenty-eight teams and a total of 112 golfers. With the proceeds, HWC has fully funded all five $2500 scholarships for the 2025-2026 fiscal year and raised additional funds for its community giving program.
HWC tournament chairperson Bri Dittlinger noted that three “diamond level” sponsors – Allay Consulting, All County Real Estate, and an anonymous donor – gave $2,500 apiece. More than 30 HWC members donated 300-plus volunteer hours to make the event a success.
“We are so excited to be able to grow our community fund and continue our mission of helping the whole community,” said Dittlinger, “and it’s all been made possible through your support and generosity!”
The date for the 22nd annual HWC golf tournament is already set. Be there June 25, 2026 and join in the fun!
Four of this year’s $2,500 scholarships have been awarded to local high school students. A fifth scholarship, to be awarded this fall, will go to an adult seeking to pursue continuing education. This could include things like community education classes, textbooks, conferences, or college tuition. Applications for that scholarship are due Aug. 31, 2025. Community Fund
HWC offers assistance to families and individuals needing help with food, shelter, clothing and medication. This past year, HWC gave $5,500 to ten local families through this fund. With the new fiscal year underway in July, funding is again available. See the Hoodland Women’s Club website at https://www.hoodlandwomensclub.org/community-fund for information and to apply for assistance.
Harvest of Hope Gala in October
A new way to support HWC’s community giving is coming up in the fall. This is the first year for HWC’s Harvest of Hope Gala, set for Oct. 4, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Alpine Events. It will include dinner, a silent auction, and a raffle. Join us for an evening of elegance, entertainment, and giving. You can also donate items to a silent auction and raffle. Annual Report tallies achievements
“Women with vision, empowering each other to achieve a better community,” headlines HWC’s 2024-25 HWC Annual Report, just released in July. During the last Fiscal Year, the report shows that HWC netted over $16,000 to support community causes. In addition to the five $2,500 scholarships and the $5,500 community fund, some of the recipients included Welches Schools ($1,000), Meals on Wheels ($2,000), and Hoodland Library ($1,000).
HWC members volunteered 2000+ hours this year, keeping our section of Salmon River Road clean and litter-free, hosting a free childcare event, a free and reduced cost mobile vet clinic, and support for local community events like the Hoodland Block Parties and the Hoodland Farmer’s Markets.
