Judith Norval: A Life of Art and Community

Judith Louise Norval, 87, born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 17, 1938, passed peacefully at home in Zig Zag, OR September 10, 2025.
Judith loved art and literature. She volunteered as a docent at the Long Beach Museum of Art while living in Cerritos, CA. When she and husband Ron retired to Oregon in 1993, she worked as a book and art seller at several establishments, including Wy'east Book Shoppe and Gallery in Welches.
She was an avid reader, played Pinochle, Spite and Malice, Bridge, and Rummy, worked crosswords daily, and enjoyed her woodland yard.
Judith belonged to St. John in the Woods Catholic Church. She was active in many local organizations including The Lions Club, The Philanthropic Educational Organization, The Hoodland Senior Center, and the Friends of the Library.
Preceding Judith in death was her beloved husband Ron Norval, who passed in 2001. Also passing before her were brother Jimmy Zust in 2001, brother Ken Zust in 2019, and daughter Kelly in 1967.
Judith is survived by her daughter Katherine Fletcher of Nevada, and her son Roger Fletcher and his wife Allison of Maryland. She dearly loved her four grandchildren, Elijah and Zoe Wender and Keala and Quinn Fletcher. Sister Kathryn Zogorski and her husband Tom reside in Nevada. Sister Debbie Williams-Hoak lives in Michigan with her husband Paul. Judith's nieces are Kimberly Cooper and Kristin Zust and her nephews are Jim, Ken, Kory and Kyle Zust.
Judith was buried next to Ron at the Willamette National Cemetery during a private ceremony.
Services will be held at St. John in the Woods Catholic Church, November 7th at 11:00 a.m., reception to follow.
