Sandy Actors Theatre is thrilled to announce its upcoming production of FOOLS, a delightfully witty comedy by the legendary playwright Neil Simon. Directed by Patrick Roth, the play will open on Thursday, September 12, 2025, and run through Sunday, October 5, 2025, with performances on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at the Sandy Actors Theatre.

Set in a remote Ukrainian village during the late 19th century, FOOLS tells the story of Leon Tolchinsky, an enthusiastic young schoolteacher who arrives in the town of Kulyenchikov only to discover the entire population has been cursed with chronic stupidity for 200 years. His task is simple — educate the village and break the curse — or risk becoming just as foolish as the rest.

With Neil Simon’s signature humor and a heartwarming message about love, learning, and perseverance, FOOLS is a perfect mix of satire and sentiment. Director Patrick Roth brings fresh vision and comedic timing to this classic tale, assembling a talented local cast to bring the quirky villagers of Kulyenchikov to life.

“This show is full of charm, ridiculousness, and heart,” says Roth. “It’s a story that’s as relevant today as ever — about overcoming ignorance and believing in the power of change.”

Performance Schedule: Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30p.m.; Sundays at 3:00 p.m.. On opening night, in accordance with SAT’s usual custom, Wy’East Artisans Guild will host a special showing of various art pieces in a theme suggested by the theatrical production. The "Foolish" art show is a collection of crazy, clownish, silly art meant to entertain the viewer.
