Meet the HWC Craft Group at the Hoodland Block party this month
The HWC craft group’s products will be on sale again this month at the Hoodland Block Party on Saturday, September 6th at Cooper’s Wine Bar in the Hoodland Shopping Center. If you’ve not yet attended one of these well-loved local events, imagine an art show featuring all handmade goods, live local music, wine and beer tastings, food specials, lawn games, and wonderful community vibes. This is the last block party of the year, so don’t miss it.
The HWC craft group meets weekly in members’ homes. One member takes responsibility for instructions and materials for that week’s craft, then everyone creates their own beautiful versions.
“We love the creativity and camaraderie of getting together every week,” said craft chairperson Ann High, “and it’s really gratifying to be able to contribute to the Hoodland Women’s Club’s community giving, through sales of those products.” Last year the craft group netted $2,000 for HWC’s community fund selling products at community events and bazaars. Nice results for crafts made at a kitchen table every week.
Join us for the Harvest of Hope Gala
The Hoodland Women’s Club is excited to introduce a brand-new event this fall, our first annual Harvest of Hope Gala. This event will take place on Saturday, October 4th, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Alpine Events.

Please join us for an evening of elegance, entertainment and giving back. We will be featuring live music by local music group Deja 2+, a four-course family style dinner, fundraising, raffle baskets, a live auction and much more! All profits from this event will fund our ongoing community giving programs, including our local Community Fund, which financially supports our neighbors experiencing hardship.
To join us for this night of fun and fundraising, you may either purchase a table for $600 (for your business and/or group of family and friends to enjoy together), or individual tickets for $75. You may also use this link to donate for this event: https://www.hoodlandwomensclub.org.
Your donation is tax deductible, and your donations will be marketed in our event program, highlighting your support of our local mountain community. Together, we can make a huge difference in our community!
Adopt-a-Road and more coming up
The HWC Fall Adopt-a-Road cleanup will be September 30th. Twice each year, HWC members volunteer their time to clean up and spruce up the section of Salmon Creek Road from Highway 26 up to Welches Road. We’ll report on that next month.
Also stay tuned in October for information on HWC’s ability to give more back to the community.
