As a nonprofit organization, Mt. Hood Hospice serves those nearing the end of life, and their families, regardless of their ability to pay.

About a quarter of those they care for have served our country.

As part of the national We Honor Veterans program, their team is dedicated to recognizing the unique needs of veterans and their families by ensuring they receive compassionate, veteran-centered care. Aside from general end-of-life care, Mt. Hood Hospice staff undergo ongoing team education, provide ample community outreach, and host multiple recognition ceremonies throughout the year.

In honor of Veterans Day, Mt. Hood Hospice and the Sandy Senior Center staff will partner to host a recognition pinning ceremony at the center from 2-4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14.

Representatives of the VFW Post and Auxiliary 4273 will be present, providing a Missing Man Table and playing TAPS to end the ceremony. A Clackamas County Veteran Services Officer will be available to assist with benefit questions.

All veterans are welcome and will be honored and pinned.

“We want to honor anybody, even if they’ve come before (to previous ceremonies),” said Jolie Phanton, community outreach and volunteer coordinator.

Refreshments will be provided.
