Fellow Voters: There is a clear choice for Clackamas County Sheriff on the Nov. 3 general election ballot: Brad O’Neil.

His experience and training means that he is prepared to lead the Sheriff’s Office on day one. Our community needs experienced leadership. Voters should consider Brad O’Neil.
At the July 28, 2026 Board of County Commissioners meeting, the published board agenda called for creating “an appointment process for an interim sheriff.” Instead, Commissioner West moved to appoint James Rhodes as the interim sheriff and Commissioner Savas seconded.
All of this is available for review online via YouTube.
Chair Roberts asked the Board to wait one week to interview candidates running for sheriff and advocated including the public in the process. Commissioner West called for the question, and Commissioners Helm, Savas, Schrader and West voted to appoint Rhodes interim Sheriff.
A few days later these commissioners voted to appoint James Rhodes as the 34th Sheriff of Clackamas County. This action effectively disenfranchised the voters in Clackamas County.
Please join me in voting for Brad O’Neil for Clackamas County Sheriff.
