To the Editor,
As members of the Clackamas County community, we face an important decision in choosing our next sheriff. I am writing to express my strong support for Undersheriff Brad O’Neil to become the next publicly elected Sheriff of Clackamas County.
Our Sheriff’s Office needs a leader who understands the challenges facing our communities and has the experience, judgment, and integrity to lead a professional law-enforcement organization. Brad O’Neil brings those qualities to the position.
What stands out most to me is Brad’s commitment to the people he serves. He understands that effective law enforcement involves more than simply responding to calls. It requires building trust with the community, maintaining accountability, supporting the men and women who serve on the front lines, and working collaboratively with residents to address public-safety concerns.
Clackamas County is a diverse and rapidly changing community, encompassing rural areas, mountain communities, and growing urban neighborhoods. Each has its own challenges and needs. We need a sheriff who recognizes those differences and understands that public safety depends not only on strong leadership, but also on meaningful relationships with the people being served.
Brad O’Neil’s experience within the Sheriff’s Office has given him a practical understanding of the challenges deputies face every day. His leadership experience provides him with the perspective necessary to guide the organization into the future while maintaining the professionalism and standards our community expects.
Most importantly, I believe Brad will lead with fairness, professionalism, and respect. These are the qualities I want in the person entrusted with serving as our sheriff.
I encourage Clackamas County voters to learn more about Brad O’Neil, his record, and his vision for the future of the Sheriff’s Office. In my view, he is the right person at the right time to lead our Sheriff’s Office.
I proudly support Brad O’Neil for Sheriff of Clackamas County, and I encourage my fellow residents to do the same.
Sincerely,
Steven G., Rhododendron
